Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority

Conducting a three day effort here, ending with Stand Up 4 Transit day. This launches a month of major activity here.


Clemson Area Transit (CAT)

Airing a radio commercial April 8 and 9 in support of SU4T Day.


Waccamaw Regional Transportation Authority

Also known as Coast RTA, agency launched a 30-day “sleeper campaign” to promote SU4T at every community outlet agency representatives attended or spoke at. Worked with community partners to issue proclamations. Launched week-long events. A summary follows:
• Monday, April 6: Live media interviews.
• Tuesday, April 7: Transportation Forum featuring community leaders, agency representatives, concerned citizens and passengers in a panel discussion and town hall setting.
• Wednesday, April 8: SU4T Demonstration/Street Team/Human Billboards strategically placed throughout agency’s service area.
• Thursday, April 9: Ride-along for community leaders and media with Coast RTA officials in Myrtle Beach. Free Fare Day on all Coast RTA fixed routes when passengers will ride for free as the agency’s thank you to the community for its ongoing support. Coast RTA/SU4T Day at Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ Opening Day, when agency ambassadors will be at the ballgame to distribute materials on the benefits of public transportation, the need for federal funding for infrastructure and its effect on public transportation.

North Charleston

Charleston League of Women Voters

The Charleston (SC) League of Women Voters has scheduled a public forum the evening of April 8 in North Charleston. Two mayors, the South Carolina transportation commissioner and representatives of two public transit agencies will participate.
